Choosing your wedding dress is a very special time for any woman regardless of size or shape. It truly is a day when you are going to be the centre of attention and you will want to look your best (not least for all those wedding photos!!). It's going to be a long busy day so you want to feel comfortable aswell as confident that your dress fits perfectly. I have been to weddings in the past where the brides have spent more time fiddling with their dresses and worrying about how they look than just being able to relax and enjoy the "big day" so don't make this mistake!

Plus size women used to be marginalised by the fashion industry and when it came to choosing a wedding dressin the past the choice in size 16 + was decidedly limited. Thankfully those days are long gone and plus size women have more choice than ever. Tthe problem now is not where to find a plus size wedding dress you will be happy with but choosing one from the vast choice available. There is plenty of choice in styles and fabrics available in size 16-32 so how do you choose???

Firstly consider where and when you are having your wedding?? If you are getting married at an exotic beach location in tropical temperatures you are not going to want a heavy tight fitting gown which is going to make you feel hot and bothered. You do not want to look sweaty or shiny as if you are melting on your wedding video or photos so if your wedding day is likely to be hot opt for a light flowing dress which will keep you as cool as possible.Fainting is never a good look for a bride! If you are getting married in the middle of winter a velvet cape or wrap to keep you warm is a good idea.

What sort of person are you and what sort of style dress appeals to you? It is important you are 100% comfortable with your choice of wedding dress. Do you want to dress to accentuate your curves or would you prefer a dress that will minimise less favourite areas of your body? Are you looking for something bold and sexy or more classical and demure? An A line style for example will remove attention from your hips and draw the eye to your top half. It really can be a case of trial & error working out what dress suits you best and don't discount dresses that look plain on the hanger because putting you inside them might just transform them!!

What colour?? The traditional bridal colour in the West is ofcourse white but it's your day and you can choose what ever you want. Remember if you go with a less conventional colour you may have problems co-ordinating with bridesmaids, groom's outfit etc.

What else?? It is important you have the correct lingerie to create a smooth silhouette under your dress. A structured garment such as a bridal corset is often the best option and there are plenty of plus size lingerie shops both online and offline to ensure you look the perfect bride.

Is that it?? Almost!! Remember to check the fit of your dress a week or so before your special day just in case you need any last minute alterations and "Good Luck" with all your other wedding preparations!
